RC Aircraft Workshop at NITK, Surathkal:
The day started at 4:30 AM with me hopping onto the airport bus, bound for NITK Surathkal. Despite the early hour, the anticipation of meeting bright minds and sharing our passion for aeromodelling fueled my energy. By 8:00 AM, I arrived at Mangalore Airport, where my cab driver was ready to take me to NITK. The campus was alive with energy as students from across India gathered for the event. Though many of us were strangers, a few icebreakers and introductions quickly transformed us into a friendly and enthusiastic group, ready to explore the world of aeromodelling.
A Guide to RC Aircraft Fundamentals:
With thirty eager students filling the room, we started the workshop with an engaging session on RC aircraft, electronics, and the various components that make up a plane. The students’ eagerness and curiosity created an electric atmosphere, and soon everyone was diving deep into the fundamentals of RC aircraft.
Once we laid the groundwork, it was time to get our hands dirty with some practical work. Armed with tools, we began shaping wings, tails, and fuselages. The workshop space soon filled with the scent of glue and the gentle hum of motors as each student diligently crafted their planes, showing incredible focus and precision.

Lunchtime Conversations:
A hearty lunch provided the perfect break, giving us a chance to relax and bond over shared interests. Conversations were filled with laughter, ideas, and a mutual love for aviation. This downtime not only replenished our energy but also strengthened our newly formed connections.
Assembling and Integration:
As the afternoon sun streamed through the workshop windows, the students returned to their projects, ready to assemble their planes. They carefully connected wires and components, each piece bringing them closer to their completed models. By 4:30 PM, planes stood ready for flights, showcasing the hard work and dedication of our budding aviators.
Exploring NITK's Facilities and Sunset Reflections:
After the workshop, I had the opportunity to explore NITK's impressive lab facilities, a treasure trove for aspiring engineers. A slight delay with my cab gave me a moment to visit the nearby beach, where the rhythmic waves and soft sand provided a tranquil end to an action-packed day.
Conclusion:
As I boarded my flight back to Bangalore at 10:30 PM, my mind was filled with memories of the day's events—the camaraderie, the passion, and the joy of creating something from scratch. AEROGO's workshop was more than just building RC planes; it was about fostering dreams and creating a community of like-minded enthusiasts. The sunset that evening marked the end of a fantastic day, but also signaled the beginning of many more workshops and opportunities to share our love for aeromodelling.
