Saudi Arabia has introduced new visa options that allow residents of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to perform Umrah with ease. In addition to the traditional Umrah visa, GCC residents can now use transit and tourist visas for their pilgrimage. This move is part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 initiative to improve accessibility and enhance the overall religious tourism experience. Travelers passing through Saudi Arabia can now take advantage of the transit visa, which permits a stay of up to 96 hours. This option is particularly beneficial for those with layovers in Saudi Arabia, as it enables them to perform Umrah during their stopover. The transit visa can be applied for when booking flights with Saudi-based airlines and is a cost-effective and convenient way for GCC residents to visit the holy sites.
