Devotees submerge the idols of Ganesha on different days depending upon their customs. This ten-day festival celebration attracts everyone, regardless of caste or creed. Ganesha's arrival brings happiness and prosperity and removes obstacles from our lives. Hence, before bringing Ganpati home for Ganesh Chaturthi, specific rules, regulations, and suggestions are to be remembered and followed.

In 2024, Ganesh Chaturthi falls on September 7. Certain things should be known before bringing Ganpati Home. He is expected to stay on earth for ten days during the Ganesha Chaturthi celebration.

People always begin their fresh and auspicious tasks by worshipping Ganesha. So, after analyzing Vastu's rules, keep him in the correct place and position.

It is fortunate to place the Ganpati idol in the northeast direction. According to Vastu Shastra, no two or more sculptures of Ganesha should be kept in the same house. It is better to keep only one statue. It is considered that keeping two idols will cause their energy to collide and result in undesirable outcomes.

Things to be remembered before placing the idol of Ganpati

∙        The idol of Ganesha should not face the front entrance of a house since Ganesha's visage indicates wealth, happiness, and good fortune. Pointing the idol towards the entrance ultimately means an offence against the deity.

∙        When bringing Ganesha's statue to the house, inspect the trunk, which must be on the left side. The orientation of the trunk is one of the most crucial signals for worshipping his idol, yet statue sculptors often overlook it.

∙        When bringing Ganesha home, welcoming him must start with giving sweets.

∙        Devotees must avoid eating onions, meat, garlic, and alcohol from arrival till submerging.

∙        Sprinkle water, light a lamp, keep kumkum Tilak on his forehead, offer the deity Ladoo or Modak five types of dry fruits, and cover his head with a clean Dupatta.

∙        Decorate the place where the Ganesha idol is placed with decorative materials.

∙        Start Ganesha Pooja with the "Om Gan Ganpataye Namah" Mantra.

∙        Recite Ganesha Stotram and Ganesha Namaavali both morning and evening.

∙        Feed the deity with sweet dumplings and take Aarti both times.

∙        If no accessible clean water body is nearby, you can immerse the Ganesha idol in your home using a drum or a large bucket of water.

∙        Do not submerge Ganesha without offering Aarti, performing pooja, and presenting him Bhog.

∙        All these ten days must be observed sacredly. If you cannot bring Ganesha home, you can offer prayers by visiting temples.
